Paul sang Hymns “when” in Prison

Paul saw the BIG PICTURE.

Stoicism is good and is a practical philosophy centered on living a virtuous life in accordance with nature and reason, which leads to eudaimonia, or flourishing.

At its core, Stoicism teaches that virtue—comprising the four cardinal virtues of wisdom, justice, courage, and temperance—is the only true good and is sufficient for happiness.

All external things, such as health, wealth, and reputation, are considered "indifferent" (adiaphora), meaning they are neither good nor bad in themselves but are valuable only as material upon which virtue can act.

The Stoics emphasize that while we cannot control external events, we always have control over our judgments, opinions, and responses to them, and thus should FIRMLY focus exclusively NOT on the Task itself.

Focus on the beauty around you:

As

that internal control leads to emotional resilience and peace.

Do “NOT” focus negatively on the tasks themselves,

as that generates destructive emotions in yourself, and indeed in everyone around you.

Negative emotions = STRESS. It arises from THOUGHTS. NOT from external circumstances themselves. Think of how Paul and the Disciples were when they were in prison= they were HAPPILY SINGING HYMNS, therefore they were not focusing on the situation of Prison Walls.

The Stoic ideal is to align one's will with UNDERSTANDING the rational order of the universe. Realize and focus on the Big Picture= that you will be a Spirt Being living “Forever”, therefore do not stress about everyday issues.

Realize that you can actually ENJOY being in prison as Paul did, as (because) Paul SAW THE BIG PICTURE, and used the prison to sing Hymns in.

The KEY IS

Be governed by a divine Logos of love to all tasks as well as love to people.

Have/use providential reason, accepting fate and living in harmony with the situation WITHOUT stressing about it.

Realize:  “what makes you upset is NOT THE THING, but Your judgement of things”

This philosophy is not about suppressing emotion but about mastering it through reason, leading to a life of inner peace, integrity, and ethical action, no matter what the situation, including being in Prison. Learn as Paul the Disciple did WHEN he was in Prison, AND APPLY THIS TO YOUR DAILY LIFE, when you are doing tasks.

Have/use providential reason, accepting fate and living in harmony with the situation WITHOUT stressing about it.

You then, will be happier,= YOU WILL BE HAPPY in all that you do, and you will be/live unstressed and live longer.

 Editor’s further admonition:

You are not just learning how to understand and respond to your impressions, but you must also unlearn the bad habits that you have developed over a lifetime.

With this in mind, you should not expect to suddenly become wise overnight, or even in the course of a day “yet”; but keep on trying, and forgive yourself when you fail to achieve the perfection of a sage.
